Welcome to the Westfjords! The most northern part of Iceland, the Westfjords is home to adorable puffins, spotty internet, and tons and tons of fjords! More about that later. Here’s what you should expect upon your triumphant arrival.

#1. Limited wireless. You will pay for it, whether in krona or in amount of pastries you purchase to stay online at a cafe.

#2. Expensive treats. Everything is expensive in Iceland. I mean, it’s an Island. Nearly everything is imported. The Westfjords, while remote, are absolutely no exception.

#3. Quaint villages. You will tire of them.

So now, on to the review!

I happened upon this cafe in Patreksfjörður, one of the first villages in the Westfjords. It was my first day there, the sun was shining, and I was dying for some caffeinated tea. I walked in here and I pleasantly surprised at how quaint it was. It looked like a kooky dollhouse.

OK, the food wasn’t amazing. I tried some kind of sea bird that was kind of gross. But hey, as foodies, I gotta try everything, right?

Anyway- the thing that sold me on this place was all of the vintage/antique/hipster inspired decor. Brass copper pots, stylish wallpaper, and red velvet sofas. Stamped, sealed, delivered – I’m yours.
