Traveling Season by Season

Why travel by destination when you can travel by season? Learn what each season possibly has in store for you.

Why I Love Traveling in the Winter

traveling to the winter
  1. You get to wear your biggest, puffiest coat (depends on your location)
  2. Three words: heated toilet seats (also depends on your location)
  3. There’s something magical about a foreign city covered in snow
  4. Fewer crowds (most places)
  5. Experiencing holidays in new settings and observing cultural differences

Why I Love Traveling in the Spring

traveling to the spring
  1. Long, luxurious and dramatic walks in the rain
  2. Sprigs of wildflowers sprouting about, perfect for photography
  3. You can watch growth in a new place and see what it takes for a city to come into bloom again
  4. Access to fresh spring ingredients and newly reopened farmer’s markets
  5. It’s finally warm enough to open the windows again – a nap in a room with open, unscreened windows feels like quiet luxury

Why I Love Traveling in the Summer

traveling to the summer
  1. Longer days mean lazy evenings with no rush
  2. Swimming holes, lakes, rivers, pools
  3. Fields and the countryside in the summer feel romantic and endless
  4. I personally love the stickiness that comes with no AC in foreign countries – sleeping in your underwear is another quiet luxury for me, as I am always cold
  5. My birthday is in July, and any trip close to it feels like a present just for me

Why I Love Traveling in the Fall

traveling to the fall
  1. Seeing the leaves change across mountains and trails feels like magic
  2. I naturally pair the fall with new things – trying new coffee, spices, and food
  3. You can visit somewhere and return in the fall, it’ll feel like a completely different place
  4. I always tend to pick up new jackets and sweaters in the fall, as I am never quick to let go of the summer heat, and naive to when fall actually starts – which is how I accidentally wore a robe all around Argentina
  5. Fall, in my experience, has the best and most interesting festivals around the world
