This was my first onboard cruise update…I wrote this on the first day of our trip! How cool is that? It’s incredible to how much technology has advanced, I mean, internet on a cruise ship? That’s kind of nuts. I remember when I was younger, I went on some sort of field trip where they showed us how acupuncture was done. I’ve been obsessed with the idea ever since. So obviously, I’d been looking forward to this goal a little more than the others.
I did my acupuncture on Day 2, right after our time change. Thanks to the spa service on board, I prebooked this before getting on the ship. My appointment was at 2, approximately an hour after we switched time zones and jumped an hour ahead. I kept asking my sister Erica what time it was, I was kind of nervous that I would miss it. If you’ve ever been on a cruise and been without a watch, you know that it’s really easy to lose track of time.
I went to the spa and checked in. I had to fill out some paperwork about why I was getting the acupuncture. It helps with weight loss and aging, stuff like that, but I was obviously there for one reason and one reason only: stress. My acupuncturist was name Kristel (yes, that’s how you spell it. I checked). Kristel was pretty nice, and she explained all of the different services I could get to continue the stress relief treatment on board. I politely declined, mostly because I don’t have an extra $400 lying around.
We were in a small room that pretty much looked like any other treatment room at a spa. I laid on a massage bed and she started putting the needles in. It wasn’t bad. Just a quick prick here and there and I was done. She told me I was just going to lay there for 30 to 45 minutes and relax, let the needles do their thing. She said she’d check up on me in about 15, and if I was asleep, she’d just let me sleep. I wasn’t tired at all and anticipated just laying there.
Sure enough, about five minutes after she left, I was so relaxed, I passed out. I didn’t even realize I had fallen asleep until I came to and she was pulling the needles out. It was kind of trippy. I felt really relaxed after, but not sure if that was because of the nap or the needles. But all in all, I’m glad I went. Another one bites the dust. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to take pictures in the spa….BUT I did manage to snag a few pics of the room and the needles, so I will be posting those VERY soon!
Just a final word about the list in general. There have been a lot of little goals, finishing a puzzle or designing my own stationery, that have fallen through the cracks. I’ve had the best intentions of finishing them, but for whatever reason, life has gotten in the way. It’s been a pretty busy couple of weeks for me, so I was very excited to cross a big one off the list. Again, thanks for reading and following along. It really helps to motivate me. I’ll continue to challenge myself, I can promise you that.
My friends Heather and Adam ARE married now, so I’m very happy for them! They had a beautiful ceremony on board. I hope they spend the rest of their lives as happy as they were on their wedding day. Love you guys 🙂
