While in Iceland, I took a long, sleepy bus ride with Iceland Excursions to Saxholl, a volcano crater located at the very tip of their western peninsula. Located in Snæfellsjökull National Park, it’s probably one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen.

And I saw someone wipe out pretty catastrophically at a taco place once.

A shaky staircase leads you up the side of this massive, rocky crater. Pebbles shift beneath your feet (wear trendy hiking boots) as you try to pretend like you’re not terrified you’re about to fall off. Get your Instagram app ready, because these views are just begging for sepia tone filters.

Aw, look at me, guys! Ain’t I cute?!

Well, you wouldn’t know it by the look on my face, but I’ve just finished singing the entire theme song from Mulan in my head. To be fair to me, it’s by far one of the best Disney classics.

Saxholl sure made a man out of me.

That spinning, silver thing is a compass, and it overlooks the Westfjords. This is easily one of the best views in Western Iceland. If I had my iPod, I would switched on some motivational Ted Talk or something, which would have both enhanced the experience and put a pep in my step.

This kick ass post originally lived in the upside down of Triptease.com. As they’ve transitioned a new website, it’s broken free of slugs and now resides in the right dimension, on Driftyland. Loosely translated, I’ve taken my reviews back and tweaked them a bit as they’re no longer accessible on that site.
