My boyfriend Chase is from Greenville, North Carolina. We drove up there for a few days.

"That's where I used to hang out and drink," Chase mused, pointing out the window.

I stare blankly for a minute.

"...in that empty field?" I finally reply.

Spoiler: It wasn't the empty field.

I've never been to Greenville before. I know there's a college there, and according to some, not much else. But I had a lovely afternoon, walking around in a little bit of rain. It was Valentine's Day, and we strolled up and down the streets hand in hand.

Dickinson Avenue Antique Market was my favorite spot. We walked around, excitedly pointing out the eccentric pieces.

At one point, Chase picked up a puppet, and in a monotonous voice, eerily said, "We have to buy this. It says it needs to come home with us."

It did not come home with us, though a stained glass window with painted birds probably should have.

Blackbeard Coffee Roasters

Whenever I go to a new place, I immediately find a coffee shop. Today's coffee shop of choice was Blackbeard's. I broke my sugar rule and got a splash of toasted marshmellow flavoring.

Jonathan Bowling Sculpture

There was this big park filled with iron sculptures of animals. They were all really beautiful, and a little haunting. The horse looked familiar, I realized there was one in Durham, North Carolina near my old office.

You are not allowed to climb them, fyi.

Anyway, it was cool and free. Chase knew a guy.
