Looking to get a tat in Savannah? There's a ton of spots to choose from. Here are the best tattoo shops in Savannah and some deets to get you started.
(If you're not local, I strongly advise getting an appointment ahead of time.)
Savannah Ink Tattoo
Savannah Ink Tattoo is right downtown, within a block of Telfair Square. Because there are four tattoo artists in residence and it's open Tuesdays - Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday), it's advised to call that you call for an appointment and pricing.
The Butcher
The Butcher Tattoos is right by the river, two quick blocks from Johnson Square. In addition to tats, The Butcher is also an art gallery. You can check out revolving eclectic exhibits of local artists. Walk-ins are welcome, but more complex tattoo require an appointment.
The shop minimum is $80, and you must arrive on-time, sober, and with a photo ID. No kids.
White Bluff Tattoo Company
White Bluff is outside of downtown Savannah in the Chippewa area (close to Oglethorpe Mall). To get an appointment (or a piercing), you should call or email them.
There are six artists to choose from. No word on walk-ins, but they're open every day from noon to 8 PM (weekdays) or 10 PM (weekends).
Red Ocean Tattoo
Red Ocean Tattoo is close to Oglethorpe Square, close to a lot of the little shops downtown. There are currently six artists on-site, but they work by appointment only (aka no walk-ins). However, you can go in for their consult "office hours" which run from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday through Saturday.
You can also email any of the artists to book an appointment or get more information. Tattoo removal is also available.
Anonymous Tattoo
Anonymous Tattoo is another shop close to the river, located above Tondee's Tavern. It's actually pretty close to The Butcher (in case you want to get a few prices or consultations.)
There are five artists on site with portfolios on the Anonymous Tattoo site. There are also guest artists (and you can inquire about being one as well.) They're open six days a week, so while walk-ins are a possibility, it's better to book ahead.
Resurrection Ink Tattoos and Body Piercing
Resurrection Ink is another tattoo spot outside of Savannah, near Highland Park. They also offer piercings, and welcome walk-ins (they're open seven days a week.) There are four artists on-site and one piercer, so it's probably better to grab an appointment anyway.
Black Orchid Tattoo
Black Orchid Tattoo is off East Victory Drive, further outside Savannah. They're open seven days a week from noon to 8 PM. There's seven artists with samples of work you can browse for inspiration. They accept walk-ins, but prefer appointments.
(Also important to note that cancellations under 24-hours result in losing your deposit.)
