This is literally posted in my Tinder profile – the next leg of an experiment to try online dating (with my own little twist, of course).
If you’re reading this, hi! I’m not crazy. Well, a little.
But everyone is a certain brand of crazy. I might be yours.
I’m a relatively normal, yet definitely quirky girl trying to approach dating from a new angle. Don’t blame me. I’ve worked in advertising for most of my professional career, so it’s kind of literally my job to learn new ways to market to people.
I live in a small(ish) coastal town in North Carolina, where I spend a lot of time wandering through thrift stores, doing work on my house, writing, and hanging out with my dog. I’ve realized it’s a very “odd fish, small pond” kind of situation here when it comes to meeting new people.
I’m not convinced that a guy who would be attracted to my various eccentricities exists here. I’m artsy, but logical. Adventurous, but skeptical. Optimistic and caring, but also salty and sarcastic. My ideal afternoon is spent reading in the back of my car, I’m addicted to a local Thai restaurant, I absolutely love travel more than anything else in the world (besides previously mentioned dog), and when I grow up, I want to be Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail.
I’m not a fan of online dating, and typically, Tinder irritates me, but I’d like to try to use those platforms for good. Like that episode of Master of None, when the two near strangers go on a date to Nashville, the idea of kind of strange, yet adventurous dating really appeals to me.
The best things in my life, so far, have been acquired by me trying a new or unconventional approach. So if you’re intrigued, shoot me an email at driftyland [at] gmail [dot] com. I’m a sucker for a good email.
If you’re hesitant and want to learn more about me first, here’s a dating profile I created. (Or check out the site you’re on right now. This is my blog, by the way.)
Thanks for reading.
xo,
Melissa
